"Black and White: 2017" Show at Black Box Gallery

I'm excited to be a part of Black Box Gallery's juried international photography competition Black and White: 2017. The photograph featured below is titled Coast of Vik and was taken this summer in southern Iceland with my Holga 120N camera and Kodak TX 400 film. It's an almost lunar landscape of mountain and volcanic black sand beaches where puffins make their breeding grounds.

My work is featured on their Online Annex, and will be published in a collection of the works. Visit the gallery here:

Pinhole Studies

I have always had an obsession with alternative photographic processes and cameras. I love the element of surprise that comes after setting up the camera and waiting 30 minutes (the exposure length for the skull image) just to see the capture. You can't perfect pinhole; you can't see the exact composition before making the image, or be certain the exposure will be correct. You just play, cross your fingers and wait. Anticipate. It's fun. I work as a retoucher and product photographer full time, which requires precision and accuracy. This process allows me to let go and experiment. For these shots I used a modified body cover for my Canon 5D Mark III that I purchased from Pinhole Resource, and received in the mail today. Just a few for now, but I can't wait to waste full weekends playing with this!

Halloween in Salem, MA

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I eagerly await the colors of foliage, the crispness in the air and, of course, the costumes. This Halloween I made my way up to Salem, Massachusetts, where the festivities were in full force.
